Digital Learning Day Camp at Tiger Sun Martial Arts

Our Digital Learning Camp will be held at our East Amherst and Lancaster locations. The purpose is to provide a safe supervised environment for your child to do their online classes and assignments. It will also provide additional physical activity, creative stimulus, and socialization. The program will be available to cover the full school day, and would be offered as long as school districts are running their modified schedules.

Our proposed daily schedule will include:
✅ Student Drop off beginning at 7:30 am
✅ Supervised academic time- We will keep kids on task (students will supply their own
computer, headphones, and school supplies)
✅ Daily Taekwondo or other physical sports (with proper distancing observed)
✅ Outdoor activity – weather permitting
✅ Arts and Craft Time – to stimulate creative thinking
✅ Additional educational challenges
✅ Reading time
✅ Pick up time from 3:30-6:00 PM (Registered Taekwondo students may attend their classes)

Specific times for academics and activities will be determined once more specific information is provided from our local school districts.

Digital Learning Camp Registration Process

Note: In order to conform with NYS laws, our program is not considered a day care center but a “drop in” recreation program. The following process was recommended to us by the local day care licensing officials, and has been designed for us to to maintain our classification as a “drop in” facility.



  1. To be eligible to make use of the camp, interested families will need to pay a 1x registration fee of $50 per child to join our Digital Learning Camp
  2. Membership in the Digital Learning Camp is on a first come first serve basis and is subject to daily capacity restrictions. Initially we intend to accept no more than 25 students per day. However, since most students will not be attending every day we will be able to offer more than 25 memberships.
  3. After paying the $50 per child registration fee online, you will receive a receipt of payment email. At this stage, paying the camp registration fee guarantees only your “place in line” and is not a confirmation of your child’s place in camp. That email will also include a link to a more detailed form about your camp days needed. Families will be asked to complete that form no later than Monday August 31st at 5pm.
  4. Our staff will review the request and determine the maximum number of members that we can accept.
  5. We will do the best we can to finalize and notify families of their membership approval as quickly as possible. We intend to notify families of whether or not their child will be able to attend camp by Thursday Sept 3rd. Any family who is not able to receive a spot will receive a refund of their registration fee.
  6. Once capacity has been reached, registrations can be refunded or held if you wish to be placed on our waiting list. (Waiting list families will be notified if a space opens up)
  7. Because only club members will be allowed to attend Digital Learning Camp (and we will be limiting the number of members) we are confident that families will be able to “drop in” for each of the days that they have requested.
  8. Families will be charged at the end of the week for each day of camp that they utilized. The daily rate will be $60 per child.



We appreciate you cooperation and understanding as we continue to refine and improve our Digital Learning Camp procedures. This scenario is new for everyone. However, with years of experience running martial arts classes, special events, and summer camps we know that we will be able to provide a safe, structured, and fun experience for everyone.

Your Child’s Health & Safety is Our First Priority

We have taken numerous measures to enhance the safety of our campers:

Daily Arrival/Check-In

  • Temperature checks upon arrival
  • Health screening questions upon arrival
  • Hand sanitizing upon arrival

Classroom Area

  • Supervised socially distanced learning
  • Personal work stations for each child a minimum of 6 feet apart
  • Individual bins for each child’s school supplies and personal belongings
  • Individual school supplies (provided by family)
  • Wearing masks required

Taekwondo Training and Physical Activity

  • Each student will have their own socially distant training area
  • Individual Wavemaster heavy bags
  • All students entering and leaving the mat will be required use hand sanitizer
  • Mats and training equipment sprayed down with hospital grade disinfectant after each session
  • Students will bring their own water bottles


Outdoor Activity

  • Weather permitting we will try to spend some time outside daily


Snack & Lunch Times

  • Campers bring lunch & 2 snacks – eating at designated & distanced workspace
  • Hand washing before and after food


Other Facility Preparations

  • Hand sanitizer stations throughout the facility
  • Individual school supplies remain with remain with campers or in their personal bin at all times
  • Bathrooms will be cleaned and sanitized multiple times per day

Rates and Terms

  • When does Digital Learning Camp begin?

    There is an initial $50 registration fee per child. Then the camp fee is $60 per day.

  • Is there a family discount or multiple day discount for camp?

    Due to our limited capacity, we are unable to offer any discounts. We are confident that the quality of our programming and camp operation provides a strong value for the price. 

  • Why is there a registration fee for digital learning camp?

    Because of the high interest in our camp and the restricted capacity required for social distancing, we are asking families to establish their “place in line” by paying a $50 registration fee per child. This fee will be applied to the purchase of work stations (chairs and desks) that we will utilize at our camp. If we run out of membership slots before we run out of applications families will have the option to receive a refund of their registration fee or be placed on a waiting list.

  • If I choose to be placed on a waiting list what happens next?

    Families on the waiting list will be notified if a membership spot open ups and they will be given the option to join Digital Learning Camp on  a first come first served basis, subject to daily capacities.

  • Is the Digital Learning Camp a daycare?

    We are not a daycare. We are a drop in recreation program offering a limited number of membership  to our “club”. 

  • How certain can I be that my child will be able to “drop in” on the days that I need?

    Because we are limiting the number of memberships that we offer based on our capacity, you should feel confident that if you are accepted as a member that your child will be able to “drop in” as needed. 

  • How long will you be offering the digital learning camp?

    We intend to offer the camp  as long as school districts are running their modified schedules. It is our goal to provide this service as long as it is needed by our families. 

  • What about Erie County school holidays?

    If academic schools are closed for a holiday (i.e. Columbus Day) our Digital Learning Camp will be closed as well.

  • How many campers will you be accepting into the camp?

    Initially we intend to accept no more than 25 students per day. However, since most students will not be attending every day we will be able to offer more than 25 memberships. We will determine the exact number once we see the days requested by families. Campers will be accepted on  a first come, first serve basis with a priority given to current World Class Taekwondo members, and subject to daily capacities. 

  • Can I stop digital learning camp at anytime?

    Yes. We would appreciate being notified a week in advance of your decision so that families on our wait list may be notified of the opening for membership

  • What if schools are forced to close again?

    As a drop in recreation program, our operation may be subject to different guidelines than academic schools. We plan to continue to offer our services unless we are required to be shut down by the state or federal government.

Daily Procedures

  • How will camper drop-off and pick-up be done?

    To keep the volume of people in our facility to a minimum, we ask that parents only enter the facility briefly for drop off or pick up. Our staff will communicate with families daily through the use of the REMIND app and during curbside check in and check out.

  • Will other people be allowed into the facility while my child is in camp?

    From 7:30 am to 3PM the campers and staff will be the only people in our facility (with the exception of the adult students attending our noon adult class offered 2 x per week) After 3pm, students in our evening Taekwondo classes will be attending classes on our main classroom floor. At that time, campers will utilize our second classroom and multi purpose room. All Taekwondo students are subject to the same health screening process and safety protocols as campers.

  • Who will be watching over my child and assisting campers with digital learning each day?

    Our camp staff will consist of a combination of our World Class instructors as well as staff with education and/or childcare experience. More specific information on the staff for each location will be available prior to the start of camp. 

  • What will my child need to bring with them to camp each day?

    Campers should bring two snacks and a lunch packed in an insulated lunch bag with an ice pack, and a water bottle. They should also bring their Taekwondo uniform and belt. Each child will be provided with their own personal bin in which to keep their individual school supplies and back pack. 


    Suggested specific school supplies will likely include but are not limited to:

    Pencil case/Pens/Pencils/Colored pencils/Crayons

    Scissors

    Glue stick/Glue

    Books to read

    Electronic device and charger 

    Bottle of personal hand sanitizer

    2 clean face masks daily

    Any other school supplies required to complete work

  • Will the Taekwondo training offered during the camp hours be sufficient for my child to advance to their next belt rank?

    Any training done between 9:00- 3:00 will be skills and drills training only for the purpose of providing physical activity. In order to learn and practice curriculum, Taekwondo students should continuing to attend their regularly scheduled afternoon and evening classes. 

  • Does my child need to be a martial arts student to participate in the digital learning camp?

    No, any child is welcome to participate and no prior martial arts experience is needed! However if a non student camper would like to participate in afternoon or evening classes, they will need to join our Taekwondo school. 

  • Will the camp be broadcast on Zoom or any other online form?

    At this time we are not planning to broadcast the camp online.

  • How will camp staff communicate with families? How can parents connect with camp staff?

    We will communicate with camp families through email and the REMIND app. Staff will have a camp cell phone with them. More info on the REMIND app and the cell number for your camp staff will be provided prior to camp. 

Safety Procedures

What screening will be done each day?

    Upon arrival all campers will have their temperature checked, wash their hands with hand sanitizer and parents will need to answer three health screening questions. 

  • Will campers, students or staff be required to wear a mask?

    Yes masks are required for everyone in the facility at all times. 

  • Will there be any breaks from wearing masks throughout the day?

    Yes. We will schedule a few masks breaks throughout the day. These will be done when greater physical distancing between campers is possible or when we are outdoors.

  • What social distancing measures will you have in place?

    During open gym, sports activities, and Taekwondo training all children will be kept six or more feet apart. During digital learning and lunch/snack times all desks will be placed six or more feet apart. 

  • Will students be allowed to use the water fountain?

    No, students will be asked to bring their own water bottle. Staff will assist children in refilling their water bottles as needed. 

  • What is the camp sick policy?

    Students should not attend camp is they are not feeling well. Campers may be sent home upon arrival, or at any point in the day, if the camp staff recognize any signs of illness. These signs include, but are not limited to coughing, sneezing, or complaints of a sore throat or headache. In addition, any  campers who have travelled outside of NYS to an area requiring quarantine upon return, must wait 14 days before returning to camp. The same applies to any camper who has come in contact with someone diagnosed with COVID -19. 

  • What happens if a camper is diagnosed with COVID-19?

    We will be following the same policy as many local school districts. In the event that a camper is diagnosed with COVID-19 we will notify and collaborate with the Erie County Department of Health and contact the families of individuals who were in close contact with that camper and provide instructions regarding quarantining and testing.

  • How will camp staff communicate with families? How can parents connect with camp staff?

    We will communicate with camp families through email and the REMIND app. Staff will have a camp cell phone with them. More info on the REMIND app and the cell number for your camp staff will be provided prior to camp. 

  • Can we come in and tour your martial arts facility?

    Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 we are not currently offering camp or after school tours. Instead we’ve put together the video below to highlight our facility and fun activities we have planned.

Camper Code of Conduct

Code of Conduct Guidelines
The World Class Taekwondo Digital Learning Camp staff is looking forward to providing your child with an educational, safe, and fun experience. Each camper has a responsibility to act in a way that ensures a positive experience for all. All campers are required to follow these guidelines


Behavior Guidelines:

  • Campers shall be responsible for their words and actions.
  • Campers shall be respectful of others.
  • Campers shall follow directions from staff members.
  • Campers shall wear their mask at all times, except during specific mask break times.
  • Campers shall wash hands and hand sanitize as directed by staff.
  • Campers shall practice social distancing at all times.


Prohibited Behaviors:

  • Endangering the health and safety of themselves, other campers, and/or staff.
  • Continual disruption of the camp.
  • Refusal to follow the behavioral guidelines.
  • Inappropriate physical contact.
  • Using profanity or inappropriate language.
  • Bullying or acts of aggression or violence.


Steps taken for failure to follow these behavioral guidelines:

  • Staff will redirect camper to a more appropriate behavior.
  • The camper will be reminded of the behavior guidelines.
  • If the behavior persists, staff will discuss the problem with a parent/guardian.
  • If the behavior persists, the camper may be required to be picked up early and removed from camp for the day.
  • Failure to comply with the Code of Conduct may result in removal from the program


Electronic Devices:

  • Despite the best efforts of staff, it is impossible to completely prevent access to content or material that may be considered inappropriate for campers. World Class Taekwondo and its staff are not responsible for inappropriate content or material accessed via a camper’s personal electronic devices.
  • Parents shall establish boundaries and standards for the appropriate and acceptable use of technology and communicate these boundaries and standards to their children.
  • We suggest that parents look into parental control settings or software for their child’s devices
